Smoke Grenades - The Lowdown on Flameless Smoke Grenades

Flameless smoke grenades are characterized by remote-controlled ignition, ignited using batteries with up to 9 volts of power in capacity. Since they offer more flexible ignition control, they are best used for military, firemen, and police training, although some paintball enthusiasts also use them from time to time. They are used as ground-to-air or ground-to-ground signaling devices, landing zone and target marking devices, as well as screening devices for unit movements. They have cylindrical bodies made of sheet steel with emission holes located at the top and bottom for smoke release when ignited, with fillers normally consisting of 250 to 350 grams of colored smoke moisture (mostly made up of dye, lactose, and potassium chlorate).

Buying tips

When you're buying flameless smoke grenades, take into consideration that they come with different capacities. If you're going to be using it in a small field, look for one that gives you coverage of 30,000 cubic feet. For bigger fields, you can find some that can give you as much as 500,000 cubic feet of coverage. If you want, you can opt to use several small ones for a big field. However, it is never wise to use high-capacity smoke grenades for small areas.
